Another conceptual drawing. I'm working on a heat-treatment oven for the making of swords. In the critical moment before the quench, the blade needs to be perfectly evenly saked in a nice red orange. To do that by painting the heat over the blade in a regular forge is both physically taxing, fuel-eating and super risky. So much can go wrong. The blade can warp, the heat spread unevenly, overheating etc.. All those problems are such things that I'm aiming to avoid, so that I can normalise and heat-treat swords more safely. With this, I will simply hang the sword, tip down into the chimney, where a gentle firewood flame will circulate and slowly bring up the blade to its proper temperature. Hopefully this will help me bring more quality blades to the world.
I'm practically living on an old clay quarry, so I thought this was as good a reason as any to start making a historically plausible clay-build. I'm having loads of fun with it! ^^
