I realized in my earlier drawings of child-Haze&Kane, I needed to take a step back and rethink their designs. I'm so used to drawing young grownup characters that my child-characters just looked... off. I felt like I needed to draw a little ref, to get a feeling for it.
By the time that Kane and Haze first meet, Haze is eleven and Kane is thirteen. Haze Thornlance is badly beaten, starved and trampeled by the other "recruits" of the army. He's in constant defence and wary of everything around him. Even though its been five years since he was found and "recruited", his physique is slowly falling apart. The turnpoint would soon show itself though, in shape of a strong wolf boy with a shining personality.
