Lovely! ^^

Yeah, she was gorgeous, and sat in her tree, teraing at her fish for nearly forty minutes from the time I'd spotted her. Got about two dozen photos with a telephoto lens...

Lovely image, you caught the wings very nicely. I am fairly certain that's an osprey though, rather than a kestrel :>

Drat. I even tried to look her up, too. Spizzle- there was a question as to whether she was a young osprey or kestrel in adolescant plumage (the paler feathers with the spotting on her chest)- but I just take pictures of pretty critters. I don't always know what the heck I'm looking at- sucks being an indian chick raised in a city. Blah. I'll go dig around some more and see if I can correctly identify her and then change the info. Thanks for the the heads up, and for liking her! She struck such a lovely pose. I hung around under her tree for almost forty minutes, trying to get good pix. *grins* Had to pick burrs off's me when she finally flew off, though- I was in a bramble patch. *chuckles*

Oh, it's understandable, bird identification isn't exactly easy :> It's a nice picture, which is always more important, as is appreciating a lovely bird, I just couldn't help commenting on my species ;>

Went and looked up Kestrels vs Ospreys and they're VERY different (heck, the Kestrel is collurful compared to this lady, and he's a bit smaller in size). See, I'd looked her up right after I took this photo a couple of months ago, and it was an Osprey in the book, I just couldn't remember the damned NAME- my memory is weird that way. Makes me look like an idiot too many times, though, and that's annoying to me. Foozle. *now goes off to see if she'd properly identified the hawk elsewhere in her gallery*

What a beaut! I used to see ospreys all the time in Florida. One time I was even lucky enough to see them doing a mating flight - grabbing each other's talons and plummeting earthward over and over.

Oh, that is cool! I'd heard (and seen video) of eagles doing that, but not Ospreys. This youngster caught my eye when I'd heard that splash I mentioned in my description, and I got to see her flying off with her lunch. She is lovely- pretty lady, showing off her wings for the guys...

Hehe nice. :) Hope there wasn't any pricklies in the brambles. The stinging nettles we get around here ouch!

Luckily not the stinging kind, just awkward to stand in, 'cuz they poked in tender places. Ouchie.
