When someone in India disappeared and that their body was nowhere to be found, they were believed to have been eaten by the manticore. This creature, looking like a red lion twice if not thrice bigger than a tiger running as fast as an antelope with a scorpion tail a human face with blue eyes and 3 rows of sharp fangs, ate everything, even the clothes, the bones and the luggage, and licked to the very last drop of blood.
*EDIT* So I heard they appear in Occidental legends too, like Greek and even Celtic ? Oh well. Strange, I read it nowhere in the books I owned when I was small but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened they were reductive because "kids are stupid", so thanks to them I became one apparently T.T That would explain why they're more famous than other Indian creatures. But eh, let's go with "They are in Europe AND India", ok ?
