Recent interest on Roxi's old schoolgirl sketch made me look for this old photo from Otakon 2002. Photo courtesy of afansview.com
You can see my glasses on the fursuit head. I was working on commissions in the artist alley while in suit. :)

Oh wow!!! I remember that picture!!! That was truly one of my faves of that year. At anime cons, I felt that furry commissions were few and precious amid the sea of Trigun commissions that year. Thank you so much for the memory, Foxglove! I had no idea that we met before the Dance Competition at FWA. :) *hug*
yep ^^ we definitely did!! many years before that too haha!! ^^ you also used to sit next to Pinkuh in the dealers room for a few years and we hung out then as well ^^ but yeah....we did meet in 2002...which was before i started going to furry cons....seeing you there was like...omg awesome ^^
Last night I saw that last year's Otakon attendance was over 26,000 people. Hey, if a nearly 4000 person convention feels a little too big for me (and that's a con of all my furry brethren), I think I'd have no place at Otakon anymore.
Hey, if I ever do another anime con, I don't want to fursuit there. I did Katsucon and Ohayocon a few years back, but I just feel too paranoid and out of place. I wanted a fursuit so I could feel closer to furries, not to embrace my "true spirit" that people from various fandoms (or neighbors) should have to deal with. :)

I think Roxi is one of the few suits that would be recognized on sight by a lot of people at a lot of cons, if only because of the fantastic detail and quality the suit has gained over the years. Heck, I was impressed as hell the first time I ran across the plans for the first Roxi head.
I can't afford to do cons, so I'll probably never see the suit in person, though.

I never new you lived on the east coast! But sadly, I got too much going on this summer with Megaplex and Eurofurence. I really don't watch anime much, so I don't know what I'd get out of Otakon other than a fond memory of when the con was only 5000 attendees, not last year's 26000 attendees.
*nodnods* Fair enough! I've never been to an Otakon, but some friends have been trying to convince me to go. I'm still on the fence, particularly since one of my friends isn't going to make it now since dislocating his knee on a track.
*giggle* And yep! East Coast vix, huddled in Baltimore. Kamber will be abducting Sixpaws and myself up this August prior to our departure for the Netherlands.
So I suppose I'll wait to catch you at Eurofurence!
