As it turns out in the primary timeline, she DOES have a boyfriend; she started dating Kento, since they were just friends. And during high school graduation of 2010, they ended up officially being a couple.
October 11th, 2017:
Kento himself, recently was invited to see Vanessa, in a water chamber. (They have collars, that enable them to breathe underwater) and that's when Kento wanted to surprise Vanessa, to do something nice for her; he brought out a ring, and asked if she would marry him; Vanessa screamed with tears of joy, "YES!"
After Kento places the ring on Vanessa's finger, they now being to start making out, in the middle of the water chamber; cuddling, with the male dragon himself, petting his own girlfriend, on his back, while holding her close.
Very soon, they shall be married. Quite possibly this Saturday...
It is also nice and warm, in the chamber; not hot, nor cold.
