I'm guessing as opposed to the slimes before them? Those only started as low as $35 because a slime's design is just one blob of color. These designs took the same amount of effort as my usual $70 adopt bases but because they are tiny and cute I kick the price back $20 from that. I'm sorry that wasn't what you expected though!
Ahhh heck it. I brought them down to $40 because I don't mind
