Don't forget, the Mustang is, and always has been, the car to bring power to the people. Muscle for the masses. A working-class hero, that can be enjoyed by even though on a family hatchback budget. It's designed to sell in millions, not to be a rare, exclusive supercar. That is the beauty of it.
Well, they aren't necessarily affordable, the base GT Coupe which would be the "muscle car" is pushing $30K which is completely stock with no extras, and the GT500 seen here is almost $50k. It just annoys me that everyone goes out and blows all their money on one of these when they could get something a little older with maybe some miles on it, and push it way further than a Mustang and get that rarer look. I guess I'm just stuck in my ways is all, never really could appreciate a Ford.
Don't get me wrong, they got some power, but the price-point is too high for not so much. I mean, $30K for just a little over 300HP when you get get a 2006 GTO with 415HP for $22K if you know where to shop. Not to mention the Mustang GT is ridiculously front heavy. I say, if you need to get a Mustang, but the cheapest one at $15K and take it to Shelby and have the Terlingua package for another $18K and get an all around better car.

Not so. Compare the Shelby GT500 to a Ford GT. The GT has 10% more power, but costs nearly 600% more than the Mustang. Corvette Z06 has roughly the same amount of power, but costs three times as much, similar story with the Dodge Viper, which is three and a half times as much as the Shelby GT500.
It's pointless comparing it to anything European, like a Ferrari or a Zonda, because you get things like quality and handling in European cars, it's not just about power. I had a BMW with the same amount of power as the Shelby. Cost the same too. Considering I didn't have a proper job at the time, I thought it was both horribly expensive due to having no money, and quite affordable because even though I had no money I could still have it.
That's exactly what the Mustang is for.
