Fair in both face and body, born of a wealthy family of fairly high status in the early to mid 19th century Italy, Ambrogino would often sneak out to see the puppet shows held outside of cathedrals or in the Venetian marketplace. Perhaps it was there he met a puppeteer, a vampire who offered what seemed too good to be true. To be young and beautiful as one of the marionettes that enraptured him so... forever.
Gods... it hurt. But it was done. And the price: Like any vampire, he has to feed on humans to not only live, but to look human as well. Wearing a fresh skin, he can pass until the skin starts to decay.
He doesn't always wear a skin, but if he does not feed at all, his face, the last true bit of him, will begin to decay, and that he cannot bear. He will swing between embracing his existence, casually killing for the sake of his appearance, to barely enough to sustain his own life.
