Inspired by a really amazingly bad spaghetti western called Django. Hoo boy.

Dude, I don't play video games. It's unlikely you'll ever see me do fan art of anything, much less video games. And while I can appreciate you anticipating such a thing when you read the title for this image, that doesn't mean I'm interested in hearing your disappointment that I didn't give you what you expected. Especially if it's framed in cryptic two and three-word sentences.
I DID SAY THAT. And YOU stayed and argued.
So far, the last two times when you've bothered to post anything here, it's to whine about something. And now you're arguing with me over a situation you created! For fuck's sake, either take responsibility for your own goddamn behavior or be gone.

I did. If you had spent some time reading, rather than typing, you might just have figured this out, and a whole lot of your precious game-playing time wouldn't have been wasted.
I tried to politely explain that I wasn't interested in hearing from you if all you had to offer was whinging. I didn't realize at the time that you're either trying to be a troll, are completely self-involved, or are thick as a goddamn hunk of granite.
This dog is done chasing his tail. Adios, Junior Mint.

Incidentally, I was polite right up to the point where I realized you weren't ever going to unclog your ears and listen; that, rather, you were in this for the long haul, like any good troll.
Had you been polite yourself, apologized for complaining this wasn't for your "Solar Boy Django" game and backed off, this all could have been avoided.
The only reasonable conclusion is that this is the response you wanted all along.

The artists who manage to create form without line...just using color and texture...they floor me. Same can be said of those who use color, line and texture without trying to "render" or otherwise cleave to reality. It's not what I usually get to do. This stuff's pure play.
*hugs* Thank you.

There's two ways I've heard of thinking about light and shadows (two ways I've tried at least). I read in Andrew Loomis's Creative Illustration about his notion of opaque light and transparent shadows. That feels right to me. But there's a lot of cool art out there that just hammers in shadow areas with pure color or otherwise solid tones (Kev Walker, Mark Zug, Chris Moeller, Matt Cavotta). Oh hell, also 60s and 70s poster art! That's another great source of inspiration. Lots of great, punchy graphic shapes with solid shadows.
*hugs* Thanks, mister. ;)
