This is an actual WIP, so no Maturing.
I came up with this about two days ago, but, wanting to finish OAR10, I stupidly did not write it down. Therefore, I can't remember if I'd developed any sort of plot or if it was just going to be this woman complaining a lot. Anyway, have a look, tell me what you think.

Whoa. That was surprisingly powerful for being so short. You not only gave a great description of how I imagine anthropomorphic beings would be viewed by most humans, you couched it in a very telling description. It feels so casual yet brutally honest, how the speaker describes the two co-mingling extremes of her opinion. Classic 'love/hate' relationship.
Brief, but well done. I think this is worth trying to recapture what you originally intended. Even if you never remember exactly what you had planned, what you get from it from this point could be equally good, or perhaps even better.

I agree with Hafoc; this feels like the tip of an iceberg, and I think it's worth exploring. It looks like you were thinking about a lot of the same things that I was considering when I created the Susan's Ark setting, although I think your character's mixed feelings would make for a more emotionally complex (and quite possibly more realistic) dynamic.
It's definitely got potential but as someone already pointed out, it might just be self-indulgently depressing. Nothing wrong with that, though...
It could go in a lot of ways..a traditional tragedy where your narrator knows things are doomed from the start, or an "Awww, how touching" reaffirming type of story about personal growth. Keep some notes about it if you think up anything else. :>
