Oh man, this one was so much fun! We had a pops concert with all of the big recognizable orchestra pops pieces (Bald Mountain, Phantom of the Opera, etc.). At the end of the program, there was a mysterious "special encore," so none of the audience knew what to expect. We hit the first note, and several people started cheering (you can hear some of them in the recording). It was an awesome way to end a concert.

It was rather lucky that I got to play it. I'm involved with a lot of the backend running of the group, but don't usually get to play with them. I only did since the usual trombonist was out on vacation, and I didn't have a conflict with another group. The stars aligned for me (/pun) and I'm so happy they did - I really love John Williams' music. Even just listening back to the recording gives me that same giddy feeling I had when I played it the first time.
