I experienced this with the Gamecube.
I'm not enjoying my Wii as much as I thought I would (the same can be said about my 360) but that doesn't mean other people can't enjoy it! People need to learn to just let people have fun with what they think is fun.

of course, everybody has different tastes. I may not like gears of wars but many do and that's fine as well as many won't like zelda and that's cool too.

lol thats why i like just playing warcraft. i got tired of seeing cool games come out and being told i would have to pay $200 to get a whole new system to play it. I think the only thing i miss from playstation was armored core trooper since you could build your own mobile suit to go on missions (Gundam addict here)

What made me trade my Wii back in was I moved to a room where I lost line-of-sight between my console and where I played with the game, e.g., my bedroom. It wasn't feasible to wave controls around from a sitting-on-the-bed position when the length of the bed was interrupting the line-of-sight to the Wii receiver. (The top of my TV had no good surface to mount the bar - I tried and it kept falling down, typically loudly when I was asleep!)

There's another hassle, sometimes you want to be a veg and just sit and play certain games and not wave your hands and have a gymnastic event participating in a game, so there were only so many titles you can play couch-potato style with the classic controller.

I'm someone who gets muscle fatigue in their arms and only really can move their fingers for an extended period of time, not have the spry bounciness of a healthy teenager, so a Wii just doesn't seem to be made for people with some physical motion restrictions.

that's a myth. Lots of wii games can be played like a "coach potato". Only wii sports not.

At the time the FF games weren't out, I think the choices were lots more restricted Wii Sports and Zelda were very close to about all I liked in the current lineup. I bought fairly early on, and now that I've seen a game fill my HDTV screen, I'm spoiled

well now the wii has lots of games that covers all the genres. And I have seen the wii on a HD tv and it looks great. Dunno what is the problem really.

I have "weird taste" they say. One even said if I play these kind of game i would play LEGO Star Wars. I almost Force Choke him for that (but I am NOT a Sith... lucky him) but wiping the floor with him in Tekken and Soulcalibur was just as satisfying. I DO NOT play FPS, they are NOT the only game in existence. That's the BEAUTY OF CHOICE, play what you like and enjoy it. And let other enjoy their choices, too!

Aah, who cares what they say about Wii and Nintendo. Personally, I play mostly Wii than the Xbox 360. The only game I played on there is Soul Calibur IV but that'll change when I get Blazblue: Calamity Trigger for it! But'll never stay away from my Wii. NEVAR! I even use it to surf the webs and on this site, even though they don't have anything above Flash 7! I'm up for Super Mario Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Bros Wii!

I have a Wii (Well I don't but it's in my home and i own games for it .) and a 360 and i honestly can't remember the last time I even played my on the Wii. To me the only games that are truly worth playing on the Wii are games are are exclusively on the Wii such as Smash Bros, Zelda, and Mario (I never liked the first person metroid games :/). I think that any time you can get the same game for a different console you should.

I say this mostly because the Wii has terrible online play. In order to play with a friend online you have to BOTH exchange friend codes that are. . . what 15-21 characters long and then you have to do that with every single game.

There is no way to really communicate with others during game play (I know bawl let you program 4 preset 15ish character messages that would be played when you used a taunt but that's not communication) so even if you manage to find someone you like to silently play with there is no way you can tell them your friend code so you can play with them again.

There is very little downloadable content and what there is is limited by the small amount of memory that the Wii has. For example, when Metallica's Death Magnetic album came out as downloadable content for guitar hero the entire album was available to players on the PS3 and 360 but there were at least 3 songs that weren't available for the wii to download because they were to long. Wii players payed the same price but got less content.

On the topic of graphics. I know they aren't what makes or breaks a game (generally) but if I HAVE THE CHOICE to play a game and have it look good or have it look gorgeous why would I play it on the console that looks worse? The only reason to would be if it had extra features or game play capabilities and usually it's the other way around. The Wii typically has to have features cut OR microsoft/sony shell out money to get features exclusive/extra for the 360/PS3


The Wii is a lot of fun and has plenty of great games.

I don't own Wii, even if I could afford one, I wouldn't play it, because I wouldn't be able to buy any games... heh... way to expensive... I'm happy to own my DS, but it would be hard to play w/o R4. That little card saves my life. Oh well. Some friends let me watch them play on Wii and I really liked it. I'd love to see and play Pokemon Battle Revolution on it :)

And macho games? Hah. I play what I like - I love playing The Sims (1, 2 and 3) and Pokemon and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I love the Wii, though I don't think it's perfect. Some day I'll probably get an Xbox 360 or PS3 but until FFXIII comes along I'm really not that disappointed I don't have either. I love Ratchet and Clank, Insomniac in general, Team Ico, Rare, and Square Enix a ton but I'm perfectly satisfied playing older games or Wii games for the time being. The biggest draw for the Xbox for me currently is Fable II and the Banjo games, and two out of the three Banjo-Kazooie games out I already have on the N64, with the third being radically different from the first two. For the PS3, no backwards compatibility with the PS2 means no sale for me. Somewhere down the road I'll probably get one of the other... but if FFXIII comes out for the PC I might just skip them altogether. The Last Guardian does wow me but no PS2 BC seems junky to me, nor am I impressed with the Xbox 360 failure rates.

A friend of mine was about to buy a PS3 and when I told him that it didn't had PS2 BC....he changed his mind I understand why Sony did that but it seems that it backfired

They did it to boost ps3 game sales. Cause everyone was buying them but still getting tons of ps2 games for it. :P thank goodness I lucked out and got one of the last BC consoles. :P

resolved. There's no reason to fight over this. The Wii lacks horsepower but the games are solid, the 360 is the most balanced out of three, but often pisses itself and dies and the PS3 has a ton of horsepower and memory but
is far too expensive and lacks a big game library. They all have strengthes and faults the only arguement the Hardcores have is that the Wii has a majority of causal games~ Which they feel isn't has good, because they aren't as indepth and serious. They are admant and offensive about it and nothinhg is going to change that opinion...

FPS are absolutely gay (apologies to those you get sensitive over nothing, gay as in absolute rubbish, not gay as in m/m attraction), enjoyable for a little bit, but lose their appeal really easy. :P And they get all the attention. :P Then stuff like No More Heroes, Psychonauts get critic acclaim, but ignored for the latest Call of Duty drone. gah. v_v;

I'm not into the videogame culture really, whenever I do play it's for MY enjoyment and not to please anyone. I'm not that interested in getting the latest high-tech console or game... I mean, the best game I ever play and STILL play now and then is 007 Goldeneye for N64!

The Wii appeals to a different market of gamers. If you are a hardcore gamer, the Wii isn't really for you. But, my friend was showing me some of the things that it can do, and I'm a tad impressed. But still, I'm gonna wait for it to come on HD before I start to care.

the wii is a blue ocean product which means that appeals to ALL kind of gamers: core, new (expanded) and lapsed. Many people don't understand that. MS says that natal goes to "casuals" (a gentle way to say "stupid" gamers) while Nintendo keep saying they go for everyone.

Like I said to misharu, Hardcore and casual is not about the games but the way of playing. You can be a casual Gears of war gamer (only plays the main story and sparsely) or a hardcore wii sports gamer (keep playing for the Pro rating and more for hours). Since the gen begun it got another connotation.

And dude, understand that a HD Wii WON'T EVER HAPPEN. Next Nintendo console maybe but not the wii. It simply doesn't make sense in Nintendo's plans.

Next Nintendo console WILL be. They said the Wii isn't HD because HD wasn't (and still isn't) in a ton of homes. Don't get me wrong, because I do think HDTVs look great, but the simple fact of the matter is the Xbox 360 and PS3 targeted a display model that was an extreme minority and still isn't near the mass penetration of standard TVs. By the time the next Nintendo console comes around, HDTVs will be common enough to justify it, and even more importantly the price of the components will have come down.

Its all about what tastes you have. I get the same crap from people when I say I have a Wii. I mean I have a Gamecube and PS2 as well and those satisfy me just as well. I mean, I'd love to get a PS3, but the price (400$ !) is too steap for me right now.

The rule I follow when getting a system is does it have more than 1-2 games I'd play? The Xbox 360 has like 2 games I'd like (Tales of Vesperia and Fable) But I don't buy a system for just 1-2 games. That's like a waste of money.

I only have 5 games for my Wii, but they're all fun games (Super Pape Mario, DQ: Swords, SSBB, Tales of Symphonia 2, and SMGalaxy) I'm not a FPS fan, to me, FPS games get really boring like REALLY fast. I'm more of an RPG and Action/Adventure gamer (i.e: Final Fantasy, Zelda, Mario, Sly Cooper, etc.)

Also, while each of the new systems has games of a variety of genres, I see each system as having a primary genre that they play on the most: Nintendo- Action/Adventure (ex: Mario/Zelda) Playstation- RPG's (ex: Final Fantasy, Tales of series), Xbox- FPS (ex: Halo)

So its all about taste.
