Thought I'd show you guys the materials I use for my Inktober stuff, on the off chance that any art/pen nerds actually care XD
The sketchbook says American Journey on the front and is from Cheap Joe's Art Stuff, according to the URL on the back. I've had it for several years now, but I'm running out of paper so we'll have to see if the website still exists! I really like it because it's got a hard cover, and it's spiral-bound so I can fold it flat. The paper takes the ink really well, it doesn't bleed or smear/smudge when I go at it with the eraser, which are problems I've had with other sketchbooks in my possession. It DOES bleed through the paper if I go too heavy on it, that's why there's a piece of notebook paper stuffed in there; I put it behind the page I'm working on so the next day's page isn't inked. It also currently has a few thumbnail doodles on it.
Most of the outlines I do using my ShinHan Art Touch Twin marker, the big white one near the top. It has two ends, brush and chisel. I have never used the chisel tip ever XD Above it is the refill ink bottle. I would have gone with a Copic but they didn't sell those at my college bookstore where my student discount card was valid, so Touch Twin it is! I've never replaced the brush tip but it's held up quite nicely.
For the sketch I use these two PaperMate .07mm mechanical pencils, primarily the purple one (as indicated by it's grubby discolored gel grip). These were a gift from my stepsister for my 18th birthday, I've been using them for years (the pocket holder on the purple one snapped off at some point but that doesn't matter because my pants don't have pockets). I like mechanical pencils because I don't have to sharpen them, and I love these two in particular because the eraser is very long and twists out like chapstick; those two white bars next to the pink one are replacement erasers, although sadly one was a casualty in a purple Sharpie explosion so I should probably like, use sandpaper to get the top layer off before finding out if it smudges drawings or not, pfff. I bought the refill led 3 years ago and haven't run out yet!
I have no idea what brand my white eraser is, but it's magical and amazing. It used to be a lot bigger but it broke in half at one point, so somewhere I have another half-eraser hanging out. I wasn't too heartbroken about it, because now it fits better in my pencil case XD
For the fine/detail lines I use two different pens, one fine and one super-fine.
The grey one on the top is actually a pen from Office Max, not an art store. My close friends/family will tell you that I am a pen snob, a Bic simply will not do! I blame my grandfather for this; he was an art student and fellow pen snob, and always had nice pens. I was spoiled in writing implements at a young age. My favorite brands are Signio, Pilot, and Uni-Ball. This is a Uni-Ball Vision Fine, my sister bought be a 3-pack for Christmas a few years back because she appreciates my particular brand of crazy.
The black one on the bottom is my super-fine, and that one I did have to go to an actual art store to buy so here's hoping it doesn't run out of ink any time soon! It's a Faber-Castell PITT artist pen XS. Or maybe SX, the font makes it hard to tell, although XS would make more sense because eXtra Small? IT IS A MYSTERY.
The tacky dolphin pencil box I found under my bed. I probably bought it long ago at the dollar store or something, but it's small and purple and holds exactly 1 pencil, my white eraser, and all 3 pens, and is much more portable than my bigger purple pencil case (which I actually got from the sewing store, it's a knitting needle case). This is not required for Inktober but there you go XD
