No joke when I was a kid I didn't have a N64 (poor family and end up with literally every other console but it somehow) so I was exposed to Majora Mask from a friend house first and back then I assume there was just one 3D Zelda game. For the longest time when I finally got to play OoT I felt I was missing hidden areas and need to do something to unlock the mask's powers from doing special for the mask salesman. Not sure if you were referencing MM in a more OoT-like comic or what but that what I took from it.
