Nervous, Neurotic Ned - art by Amaranth, poem by Ame
I'm posting at least one thing a day, all October long! (I said I would!: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8438014/ See?)
~
It's the second day of the month, so I'm posting pictures of my second character, after Amethystine, who was my first, of course.
ArachNed! (Take a look in his folder if you don't know him.)
~
This is an unfinished piece by
AmaDenchArt, my 'Partenaire En Transgressions,' my Partner in Crime! <3
It's from back in December 2014, and she only did it because she "hadn't drawn Ned in a while." I believe those were her words. I love that was the only reason she needed to do this for me.
Also, I am so charmed by nascent art, so early in its stages of development - I sometimes lament that we don't see more sketches from people, most of all from Ama herself. While this isn't sketchy, I still get a sense of freshness from it. I think she may have drawn this cute, neurotic little spiderguy without ever really questioning herself, I imagine he fell right out of her pen, just like this.
Ned is a nervous person by default, so don't worry too much about him looking so distraught, here. He has some hangups about his small size and some weird hold-overs from being a spider of the size one imagines spiders typically are, before he became person-sized. (I say person sized, but he's like.. 4 foot 2 inches, so it's not THAT big, really.) He tells me he still worries about shoes and newspapers, sometimes. And, he's not good with people, in general. Since people were the ones with the aforementioned footwear and the smacking implements.
And then there's girls! He's even worse around girls, partly because they're people (obviously), and partly for the reasons any young man might be nervous with the fairer sex (not everyone can be confident, you know).. and partly because of that nagging feeling of doom that stems from the knowledge of male spiders getting devoured by their mates after the act of reproduction.

Hey little spider
wait
why so shy dear?
Don't be so afraid
and
let us both trade
A tale for a tale
how
we're on this trail
But first what's your name?
we'll
trade just the same
I'll just tell you mine,
It's
Amethystine.

It's never been posted, so I would have had to have shown it to you. :}
I'd forgotten about it myself, to be honest. S: It's so nice! Poor Ned. I'm imagining him meeting Ame (as the poem implies) some short time after these two stories: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16074946/ & then http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7033775/

The size of the serpent and the fact that the poem is implying that Ned and Ame are only just meeting in that moment, that would certainly be a reason for Ned to be nervous. But at this point, the spider knows not of the python's propensity for 'parlour tricks,' so to speak. >:}===<
