And here in the fourth piece, we focus on who might possibly be considered the main characters; two people that are doing everything in their power to see that Splicing becomes part of the accepted norm.

Dr. Kay Mera is a scientific genius and founder of the Splicing Centers. Dr. Mera originally developed Splicing as a means for curing disease and repairing injuries and that is likely the only reason it hasn't been outlawed in the more civilized areas of the world. Whilst not everyone likes Splicing, no one can deny that what Dr. Mera has brought to the world has its benefits. As a side note, Xero always refers to him as, "The Doctor". It has become a personal joke between the two of them.


Setsuna Meioh aka Sailor Pluto, Guardian of the Time Gates. While a beautiful Panthress Splice here, Setsuna had not gotten Spliced through Dr. Mera's Splicing Centers. During the Silver Millenium, a magical form of Splicing was often employed and it was during this time that she became Spliced. Unlike modern genetic Splicing, the ancient magical Splicing allows the subject to assume their original human form at will. Setsuna still guards the Time Gates and works to make Crystal Tokyo a reality but she also works to revive the old magics of combining humans and animals as well. She sees Dr. Mera's Splicing is a step in the right direction.
