of course the fun, was all this different ones trying to work together to find ways to escape.
which they always almost but never quite did.

there were no visible walls, just a level of technology that was still mostly fantasy at the time the series was aired in the late 60s.

today of course, drones like rover, controlled by an a.i. computer "#2" are well within existing capacities.
maybe not the a.i. THAT smart, but with the help of remote watchers, implied but never seen or acknowledged.

Oh...my...god. I *just* got that. After all these years. The comma. He (and the TV audience) had the answer from the very beginning but never knew it. *mind blown*

The point is that the break in the sentence is very carefully edited. It is just not noticing it until the last episode, but it was there from the very first. As I said, the comma completely changes the meaning of the sentence. Took me a while to get it, even after the story ended, and did he ever really escape?????? THE COLONEL

Good question. It's been years since I've seen the series; I need to re-watch it. :)
