I start this Inktober with the most famous monster from my region Corsica's foklore, a strega. Streghe (plural) are a Corsican mix of witches and vampiresses. They look like very beautiful women but they have very long and sharp claws looking like talons and they have living hair (that bleeds when you cut it and it hurts her as if you cut a limb) which locks end in sharp fanged mouths with a tongue working like a straw ; it's indeed with these locks they suck blood out of people until death, notably babies and children because younger blood is tastier to them, but when they have to drink an adult's blood, they use their siren-like charms to seduce them and keep them still until they finish them. They can reproduce with human males and are said to be very good mothers, and being a Satanic creature, they fear pyres, churches and holy water. The 3 most famous Streghe lived in the still-existing village of Monacia (COINCIDENCE, THIS VILLAGE IS NOT FAR FROM MINE) around 16th century, and were sisters. They progressively were killing all the babies and kids, but even if women suspected them, they were so paranormally beautiful men were charmed and didn't accuse them. But when one day they got caught, they finally got burnt on a pyre. I heard their house still exists, it must be one of the abandonned houses in the village, and according to a villager, streghe still exist. Legends, or reality ?
