Known Abilities
Heightened Senses
Due to her half-fossil nature, Tiger's vision, hearing, and sense of smell are heightened. She can scent other gems from as far as a mile away.
Powerful Bite
Tiger doesn't have a high enough concentration of fossil genetics to shatter gems with her bite, but it remains more forceful than the average gem's. She can crunch through bone and chew through most manmade materials.
Quadrupedal Movement
Due to her half-fossil nature, Tiger can move readily on all fours.
Personality
Tiger is naturally reserved and cautious, as an imperfect specimen that Homeworld would want shattered on sight. However, she warms up to newcomers relatively quickly and has an affectionate nature underlying her general distrust of strangers. Years of solitude have caused her to become extremely lonely and socially inept, with little knowledge of social cues or personal space. She resents herself immensely, due to her defective nature and extremely visible imperfections, and often tries to reform as a perfect quartz after poofing. After she meets her mate, she becomes more openly friendly and less reserved and is extremely protective of their territory and family matters. Social isolation has made her extremely curious and easily perplexed and startled; something as simple as a plastic spoon thrown from a car window on a nearby highway appearing in her territory can cause her unease.
Bio
Matte was created as a war trophy for an amethyst soldier who participated in the war for earth, but she was declined upon delivery and, so, became the property of the public on Homeworld. She serves as a catch-all servant for those without their own pearls, or whose pearls have poofed temporarily or are otherwise unable to tend to them, often tasked with housekeeping and maintenance chores that no one else wishes to attend to. Unfortunately, many gems who borrow her aren't keen on her cluminess or her stuttering and have beaten her brutally, sending her limping back to her supervisors more often than not, who reprimand her again for embarrassing them with her poor service. Had resources not been so slim on Homeworld, Matte surely would have been shattered years ago. Then came the time when Matte was summoned to a quartz general's quarters to clean them, which Matte met with dread because it was always quartzes who were the most cruel to her, but she was instead pleasantly surprised by General Carnelian's gentleness and hospitality. Here, Matte met Champagne Pearl, General Carnelian's own recovering pearl. Matte was taken with Champagne right away and, in the coming years, would sneak into her chambers to see her quite frequently. Today, Matte has been officially given to General Carnelian and lives relatively happily with Champagne.
