*laughs... I was wondering if I would get any kick back on that statement Q. Of course not all millennials have A.D.D. and live in their parent's basements; some are very hard working and have their heads together just like not all people from my generation are old hippies. These days I'm just fat.

It's funny you mention that, "young old hippie" is how everyone I know describes me instead. An old hippie actually welcomed me in as a de facto member of his family. I don't think the long hair, wooden cane and stink of patchouli are doing me any favors there. I have my own share of frustrations with today's eternally phone-absorbed iDorks, but not all of us are gonna be the digitally-obsessed doom of the world. I've been known to yell "Why would you put a computer in that?!" on more than one occasion! It seems nearly impossible sometimes but one should always try to maintain a bit of optimism for the generations after us: They'll be the tenders to the world when we're no longer capable.

I now wonder if the christian's "Second Coming" is simply a reboot.....
It would explain why no matter the OS, they all fall short after overreaching a certain point....
failing short without the power of intelligence and free will
We cannot give them what we do not truly have ourselves. But what they make is theirs to keep...

My problem with the whole Artificial Intelligence gig is we only define intelligence by our own, deeply flawed human standards. That's not really our fault; we don't have anything else to measure against. Until another form of intelligence (be it machine, organic or something in between) decides to find a way to communicate its existence to us, we're left talking to ourselves.
And you know what we say about those who talk to themselves.

I have a theory - we are being prepped to speak to machines. Siri is the most obvious. We nos have a whole bevy of machines we will talk to which will look things up for us - read to us - talk to us - even give us legal advice. Next will be the driver-less cars. It's coming Wire... it's coming.

Siri? Who's that? LOL I don't need anymore information overload. The internet is a great thing except when it isn't. When I look something up, if it's not technical or inherently factual, I have to waste my time sifting through the BS. I've gotten real good about sniffing that stuff out. Know your sources in other words. Social media is a swamp. Hearsay is rampant. No one checks anything out before they pass it on as "fact." It's just like e-mail 15 years ago before all the spam. I've heard it said that social media is democracy in action. Well, maybe, if the users are rational, methodical folks do their due diligence. Unfettered democracy would be the death of civilization as we know it.
Oh, great story. reminded me of Grumble also of Asimov but I couldn't remember the reference. Thanks Mitch!
