Some style experiments with Flagon. Throwing stuff at the wall and seeing if anything sticks!
1. Overall I like this one a lot...might settle on it with some minor tweaks.
2. Tried a shorter design with a bigger head. Too heroic-looking for this dopey character!
3. An attempt at being a little more realistic. A little too much but this'd fit well into a serious story.
4. A chibi style inspired by some of my favorite Japanese artists. Too far in the opposite direction!

I dunno...I think I prefer your current version over #1, I just like the curvature that his neck and head has, and I feel that's lost with #1
Do want to say this much though, I don't think #3 is more realistic than it is simply just more humanoid. and to be perfectly honest I don't think that's a good thing. out of all of these designs I feel that it strays the furthest from flagon's concept and overall purpose as a character. he's this living mixing flask that consumes chemicals to blend and pour out from his tail. and the original design's elongated body with a bottom heavy shape sells that idea well. he's shaped like a flask, like something that's capable of holding a lot of fluid and other material.
The humanoid body shape however eliminates that. not only that but it makes the character's design seem rather generic compared to other characters you'll likely see here in the community. like he's just another anthro dragon OC out of the pool of many.

You're right! Design #3 does diminish Flagon's original intent a lot. It's been the least-liked iteration so far and I'm not a huge fan of it myself. When brainstorming, I like to occasionally go waaay outside my comfort zone and make something really different. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't!
Anyways, thanks for the feedback! I'm currently finalizing Flagon's design and so far it's somewhere between #1 and what I have right now. I'll definitely keep what you said in mind.

I personally would like to see a movie scene or a comic scene (even a piece of writing) in which you end up meeting these four of you. At first you have no clue who they are, what their name's is, and where they come from? Then you realize they're the same as you. After that you would decide along with the rest of these on which plan you want to take to (Do some kind of action or event here). And that's where I would end my little story.
Why do I say I love all four of these no matter what they look like? Well, I recently saw a claymation film of King Kong 1933 and the claymation scenes after watching a youtube video from yester entertainment of Top 5 movie scenes that are lost or destroyed. And one of those is King Kong 1933, which includes the deleted scenes that was never recovered once the film was burned, gave me ideas of what kind of stories I want to portray through the use of clay or plastic. The claymation characters and inspired by O'Brien himself gave me inspiration to do something again. Since I am a story writer as well, I can see myself writing a story about this. So I do believe, if I were you, try out all of these guys and see which works. If I had to pick which one would be the one I would go with, I'll have to pick #4.
If I was to choose both, it would be #1 and #4. Definitely those two. #2, it's interesting I like the size of the character and the body shape of the character. However I'm not sure if you are gonna use him most of the time because it may not fit with what you have in your mind when creating these type of Flagon (I keep calling it Fly-Gons for some reason). That's my opinion on #2.
