It's a bit of a joint collaboration, so partly my imagination and partly Drake's. :)

I have known businesses similar to a couple of these....including the Chinese food joint that was obviously a front.
Thankfully not as a prospective employee as of yet (outside of a manager/owner of an adult novelty store who had zero sense of humor).

I remember my previous town had a small bar that managed to stay in business and keep paying the mini-mall rent despite having seemingly no clients. EVER.

No one I knew could ever remember anyone going there or seeing any parked cars, yet it stayed open month after month.
