Got Talent? (ya know...like Got Milk? Anybody?)
Ok, so I'm not a fan of contests. Not really. It just seems so...judgmental. Yeah, of COURSE it's SUPPOSE to be judgmental, but I never really liked the mindset that comes with it. In every competition, there are winners, and there are losers. Yeeeeaaah....sorry about your emotions Timmy, but when you get to the big leagues, you find out "Participation" isn't something your going to get a reward for anymore.
Maybe it's the cynic in me, but I just don't like the concept of somebody going up and giving their all, only to be shot down for some reason or another. Ok, granted, a lot of people suck at a lot of things. And, by that same fact, a few people are REAAALLLY good at things. And a contest is a good show of just how much you suck by comparison of those people.
Of course, that's just my thoughts on a bad day. I guess I don't really think of myself as "talented" really. When it comes down to it, I just don't like things that judge people.
Rigel on the other hand....
Hey Az, I agree with ya! Well, for the judgmental thing. Yeah, sure, it's a thing where people go on and do their thing...and then they're judged for it. Some may be surprised with judges liking them...or be heartbroken when they get buzzed and sent out...
And yet you still watch...
Well yeah! There are some REALLY talented humans out there!
Ugh. Anyway...from his time glued to Earth broadcasts, Rigel's got himself attracted to some certain shows. Some, I agree with...others he drags me into.
You didn't have to come if you didn't want to--
I though the moment when I was flying the other direction with you holding my arm was enough to tell you.
You flew over the pits in one of the generator rooms!
The screaming was annoying by the way. Anyhow, he dragged me to watch this human...judge...show...thing....called "(Insert Culture Name Here) Got Talent". Sure, the human "American's" have one, but I think EVERYBODY's got a version of it. Briefly, for those not in the know (come on, not EVERYBODY knows EVERYTHING), it's a show where hundreds of people go on to perform and eventually get knocked down in number to a person getting a cash prize and a show in Vegas (what is with the reputation of that place? Maybe it's because I'm not a money gambler...more of a life gambler...).
If I could give Rigel ONE thing to say good about the show, it's the variety. You'll see singers, dancers, ventriloquists, balancers, comedians, magicians, escape artists...I was surprised by digital artists who act with screens...
Ah! That surprised you didn't it! Yeah, didn't know that was a thing hmmmmm?
Surprise happens everywhere. Anyway, to get him to shut up about nearly dropping him into the bowels of a reactor core, I sucked it up and sat through episodes of this thing at his request...
And you enjoyed yourself!
Ugh. Fine, ok, SOME of the acts were good. But a lot of them were really...weird. I mean, a piano-playing chicken? Some old bat that just threw breath mints? A MLP reject that...expels...balloon pellets?....ehhh...what some people THINK talent is...
Ermm, ok, you got me there. There were some strange ones but uhhh...that's uhh...variety! But you gotta admit, while some were ok to go, some you wanted to see MORE of!
Ok, fine, SOME of them. I mean...a girl who can sing without even opening her mouth...those guys who did that stuff with light suits...that Holmes guy that nearly got that judge Simon killed...
Mel really didn't hesitate at all did she?
That would been a finale wouldn't it?
But see, you DID like some of them! And some of them you didn't like. That's part of the show! See all these people doing all these different things, it's amazing!
Yeah, but again, the judgement thing. It's not just those four judges...it's also people who vote too. And don't tell me some sad story ain't gonna manipulate things in a show about TALENT...
Err...well uhh...
Yeah, see. So it's a talent show, but it's not just based on talent.
Uhh...
Oh, let me track off cynicism...I do admit...some of them were...entertaining.
Yes they were! I saw you rocking to those Light Balance guys-
They were pretty great dancers...that choreography...using the lights that was just amazing...
-or noting how that one kid wrote his own songs instead of singing somebody else's-
Well duh. It annoys me when somebody sings someone else's song in a contest. That kid wrote his own and he was freakin' ownin it...
-or that dancing world leader guy-
Oh MAN did they need THAT for certain...
-or the girl with the puppet ehh?
Oh yeah, Darci was fantastic. Some human THAT young who can sing without even opening her mouth...
Remembered her name huh? Hehehehe.
Oui...
Oh come on Az! You liked watching it from beginning to end! I saw it! For that finale, when they were trimming down the finalists, you were exhaling quite a long and clacking your claws together.
I wanted it to be OVER.
And when it got down to those last two, you were up on your feet pacing the room, trying not to look at the screen.
It was two girls as the finalists! One of'em is going to get big bucks, and the other is going to break down crying. I mean what an upset, getting to the finish line and tripping on the rock of somebody's vote.
And we were both so happy with the result! You actually hugged me, and we were jumping up and down cheering! I couldn't help but hear your diaper slapping the floor with each bounce, I think you soaked it when they said the name or in the anxious waiting, but I can't blame ya for either of that!
First off, M-A-G. Second off....*walks off*
...he knows I'm right heheh. Well, after the full run of this season of talent, it was actually Az's idea to put a holographic show on. I guess he was doing it to prove his point, buuuuttt, I think he did it to immerse in the show a little heheh. I didn't mind being the performer...though I didn't expect the other judges he would pick. Well...at least it's a judge of our "peers" I guess.
*comes back with lug-wrench*
Uhhhh...what are you...doing with that?
Oh this? I needed to get something that looks like an X from the show. Wanted to give you that feeling of judgment again.
Of being buzzed? Uhh...but that lug-wrench isn't red...?
*tapping lug-wrench into other palm* It's about to be in a minute...
Eh heh...heheheh...heh...
