Allow me to explain the bubble. That object in Morty's hand is nearly filled with liquid, and it uses that little bit of extra air to make a bubble. Now that liquid sinks to the bottom and the bubble rises to the top, so the closer the bubble is to the middle, the more level the surface it's standing on is.
