How well Rex takes this will say a lot for his skill as a team captain. I'm hoping Rex shows some leadership skill and character growth by admitting he was wrong to judge someone too quickly by not even giving Kai a chance to show what he could do and that Kai was right to challenge him over it (heh, wolves and dominance challenges).
Rex has been somewhat of a jerk but he's also given Kai respect for challenging him, given him chances to back down, given him respect for not backing down, and didn't pick anything really crazy or cruel for Rex if he lost, so he's not all bad. Rex may turn out to be the team captain that Kai needs to teach him the rest of the skills he'll need to actually play basketball and figure out how to use his unique advantages to their best effect as part of a team.
