welp! about time for me to start posting some art again i guess
first out is this
guys, meet yet another new addition to my oc roster:
Skye Adler
Skye Adler grew up in a rich, upper class family as the easily forgotten middle child in a family that was a lot more dysfunctional than she realized. With an unfathomably beautiful and vain older sister and a pair of younger twin brothers stealing most of the spotlight, an opium addict mother and an old fashioned, verbally abusive father, Skye has always spent most of her time alone, away from her family, and devoted her time to what she loves the most; Science.
Her grandfather, Balthasar Adler, was a renowned scientist and inventor, and Skye is his granddaughter alright. She has without shadow of a doubt inherited his bright and curious mind, and constant hunger for knowledge.
Her family would spend every summer at Balthasar's estate, and Skye spent all her time with her grandfather in his laboratory, where he'd teach her everything he knew and let her help out with his numerous scientific experiments. Often to the dismay of her father, but luckily Balthasar didn't care much for his son-in-law's ”inferior” opinions.
Sometimes being the oddball in the family helps out, especially if your grandfather is an oddball himself.
When Balthasar passed, Skye took his death rather hard and when their family inherited his estate she more or less claimed his laboratory for her own, determined to continue his work and walk in his footsteps. Becoming a bit of a shut-in in the progress.
It was also in that very same study where she met her grandfather's secret ward, Fisk, and she soon fell for the suave, sweet, thieving fox. Nowadays, she helps her mate with his gear and equipment, and makes sure he keeps his long, sticky fingers in the pockets of the more corrupted members of their society only, and in return she enjoys his support, even for her more crazier theories and inventions, and the availability of such a ”willing” guinea pig to test her inventions.
Skye is a lilac point Holy Birman cat. She is intelligent and crafty, yet has a tendency to get lost in her work and spaces out on a regular basis. She's positive, and has a hopefully optimistic viewpoint on things, especially her own experiments and sees every failure as a lesson to learn from. When she gets excited about something relevant to her interests, she gets very excited, almost to the point of hyper and obnoxious.
And the best thing she knows after a long day running back and forth among books, vials, papers, devices and whatnots, is to just snuggle up with her Fisk and a nice hot cup of tea, and will with utmost certainty beg her way into a massage.

She sounds like a really interesting lady, and I really like that she managed to persevere with her interests and go her own way despite the troubles with the rest of her family. Or even because of them, I suppose. Being the ignored middle child might not be comfortable, but it sometimes has its advantages I suppose. This is a lovely picture of her, too. I love her outfit, especially the choker and the rather spiffy goggles/headband and fingerless gloves. She looks very elegant but also quite competent and, no doubt, prepared for just about anything that might come her way. Her lavender fur is just so pretty, too!
