Over all the picture is nice, I like the dynamics, and the simple but festive plot. I think this looks fine with out a tree, a tree may add to much clutter to the picture. The facial form, the hair, and the outfit all look great. The only thing I see that kind of throws things a little is that the proportions of the body are a little inconsistent.
