Getting ready for hurricane Irma, I knew things weren't going to be easy. I had to hand saw our 10x10x18 greenhouse off of the concrete it was glued down to, carry it to the front, load supplies, clear out the back yard, tie down the tarp over my car, make sure the generators were in working order, and in the end entertain an old family friend who needed shelter. It was busy and it was hard work, I nearly passed out at the greenhouse because I was working too fast and didn't drink enough water (took a short water break and fixed that right up), and in the end the power still ended up going out. But I never once entertained the thoughts of shirking my duties, I never once allowed myself to consider taking the easy way out and just blaming the storm and taking some extra days to myself. By light of candle and application of mirrors around the table to get as much light as I could, I sat through the dark and continued to work, because when I give out my word, I keep to it. I'm flattered if not downright honored to draw these character, whenever someone commissions me, they're entrusting me to bring a moment in their world, a moment of the story of their character to life. Will a majority of these characters ever get a cartoon or have a series of novels detailing their lives and their adventures? Probably not, but that just makes every piece of art all the more precious and special. Never EVER let the easy road distract you or hardship take you off of the path you set for yourself. Don't ever limit yourself from being outstanding or creating something exceptional. You can do it, I believe in you, just never ever give up!! Be resilient, fight the odds whenever you can because sometimes in the end it's worth it and you can pull through still on schedule with everything to show for it!!
I'm posting this here as a reminder to myself and as a display of my commitment to my commissioners, that my word and my honor in one shining moment outmatched a hurricane for when I doubt myself or think I don't have what it takes in the future.

Oh my goodness, such glorious words of inspiration at a desperate moment like this. Seriously, it really brings a smile to my face. <3 You're like that little ray of sunshine we all need. 8V
I wish you luck with Hurricane Irma. It must be terrifying for you all. Sending you love and wishes from the wee country of England. <3

Thank you very much, you're always so kind and I dearly appreciate the compliment! That's terribly nice of you! I just try to give life my best shot whenever I can. I don't always do the right thing or avoid the easy way out, but for whatever it's worth I try.
And thank you. It was a little stressful, but most of it's passed on by now. I appreciate it and am grateful for it all.

Nah, my area weathered alright enough. Lost power, lots of rain, lot of stress trying to keep the fridges online, but none the worse for wear! The trees thankfully were quite sturdy! So nothing was terribly damaged and I can go back to focusing on getting Cass running!
