People need to stop making Stephen King movies, there's only been one successfull adaptation of his horror works, and that only worked because Kubrick completely overhauled the story to work as a visual medium.

Probably, it's almost impossible to keep up suspense for 90 minutes, much less deliver a satisfying payoff. There's a few that work as full-length though, Psycho, The Ring, the first Halloween and Nightmare On Elm Street, but it's rare.
