This is my first attempt with anthro art. I'd like to start doing it more, any pointers would be greatly appreciated as I know it's pretty crappy. XD

Ok. Animal secret time. Gather round, and I'll tell you some helpful tricks to getting a more proportioned looking beast.
First, when drawing your muzzle, here's a fun fact to always remember. The muzzles it the same length (for canines) As their head (the circle/sphere). If you draw smaller, it looks more child like or femanine. So shorter is always good, but longer is where people question what they see. So, more youthful and feminine with shorter muzzles.
Secondly, for grown adults, their muzzles equal the size of their ears. Be they flopped over or standing up, the length is the same as the muzzle's. Unless, of course, their ears get cut, or something.
Thirdly, when drawing the eyes, make sure their base/beginning makes contact with the place your muzzle is. If you can imagine the muzzle going through the head/circle/sphere, then where it intersects is were the bottom of the eye lines up with. This is very helpful to note, especially when you draw someone who smiles. Their cheeks round up, and if the eye is too far away, the cheek looks too large, or obtuse.
However, we have some good news too. =)
Your left ear (the wolf's right) is places perfectly! It lines up with the corner on the inside eye, and moves around. It is how it should be. It is a bit short for an ear, but that may be the case cause your muzzle looks too long. It's hard to judge proportions precisely when other elements dramatasize your work.
All in all, for a first time, well done. Keep at it and show no fear! Use references, from the wild or other artists. Look around at pictures, and try copying them. The fastest way to learn how to make something is by copying another. Finding how you would do it to make it look like the figure is half the battle. And before you know it, you'll be on your way.
Good luck!

First pointer is to NEVER call your own work crap! If you tried your best, you should have pride in what you've done
As it is, I think this is quite good. I think your basic design is quite strong and that you only really need to work on coloring. I would suggest using colored pencils, first, because they don't streak the way markers do. Or, try shading with pencil and just seeing how it works out ^_^ But, you're certainly off to a good start ^_^
