Finally here is the second(of only two) video from the 2009 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Emco Gears Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course that I will be posting here on FA.
In the Rolex Sports Car Series, there are two classes of cars competing o nthe track at the same time. For safety, they split the start. Therefore, not long after the DPs went by, along come the beautiful cars of the Grand Tourer class. GT cars are production-based cars, and in the Rolex Sports Car Series they consist of the Porsche 911, Corvette C6, Mazda RX-8, Pontiac GXP.R, and Pontiac GTO.R. The class allows the use of "Silhouette Cars" - cars built aorund a custom spaceframe with custom body panels designed to resemble the production car, but having few mechanical components otuside of the engine in common. The GXP.Rs are Silhouette cars, and I believe the RX-8s are as well. Silhouette cars are generally a bit safer and a bit cheaper to run than a converted production car.
And man, those RX'8s are LOUD!!!
Sorry to say I'm having some pretty nasty troubles with the videos I got from Mid-Ohio ready for posting. In converting them to SWF format for posting here, I've found that very few can be set up with any reasonable quality and meet FA's size limits, and thus decided to limit myself to but the two videos I have posted. I am trying to combine these with the others in order to make a single large video for posting on Youtube, but it's in getting things combined(every program I try either doesn't work or can't make a working file) that I'm having trouble. Once I get it sorted, I'll post a link here(as well as in a journal so my Watchers will be notified).
