The director is really dedicated from all the interviews with him I've seen and from short snippets of their music recording I've gotten to view I'm pretty confident in this movie. I DO love the 1990 version but I'm the first to admit it's hardly book-accurate or scary, but the cast and crew alike are going all-out on this film. I'm BEYOND hyped!
You know they should've used the same song and type of opening for "Until Dawn" for the film. Imagine, after Georgie is killed by Pennywise, the opening cinematic begins with the same "Oh Death" song but with images and animations of elements of their town. Like the sewers, the library, a circus and balloons, missing persons posters, the swamp etc.
Honestly, I get ecstatic when I imagine them going in that direction.

That's a cool idea! I'd love to see this movie get its own spinoffs fro all kinds of indie artists, in any medium, novel-accurate of not.
As pictured above I kinda project my own designs onto them a bit myself, giving 1990 Penny pedipalps and multiple hidden eyes as tribute to his spider form, and 2017 Penny I gave some more goat-like features like hooves, the eyes, ears, stylization of the hair, and I like to draw them both with stomach mouths. I myself love imagining them as being an actual race of animalistic, clown-like aliens instead of just one all-powerful being.
I really LOVE a lot of concepts by Kin but if I'm being honest, I'm not a big fan of his writing, and the omnipresent-better-then-humans-look-at-it-and-you-instantly-go-insane villain is kinda weak in my opinion. I'd love to see all kinds of new and twisty interpretations.

I have a theory: When IT found itself on Earth hundreds of years ago, the first person who every came across it was a clown with the stage name Pennywise (real name unknown). IT probably took the form of a child, from seeing how adults were so protective of them, to trick PW and devoured him to regain his strength. Seeing as how children were more susceptible to being tricked, he took the form of the clown to lore them in.
Wonder what his real form will look like this time around. Hopefully something more like what was in the abandoned house that Stanley came across than a giant spider thing.

That's plausible! I know It also goes by "Bob Gray" and I haven't seen an explanation as to why online/ gotten to any explanation in the book yet so maybe if that were the case that would be the clown's name.
The director has already confirmed there is going to be a part 2 and that will be their story as adults, while this one coming out this month is their story as kids ( thank god for him making it more linear honestly ), so I don't know how much we'll see of It as its true form vs Pennywise and the monsters it shapeshifts into. I'd love to see both the deadlights and the spider! But I also hope we get to see It's eggs, too

I'm sure that when you read the book Stephen King's imagery of It's true would be more terrifying. Back then they didn't have the Hollywood Magic they have now so it 's why today it's so cheesy to us.
You know what's really creepy though? The miniseries around the book started in 1990...the same year I was born. Now here I am 27 years later and I'm fascinated by the remake and want to see it.
It's like I have my own Pennywise in the shadows or something.

Oh it's not that! I've just always been raised on horror ( my mom's a junkie, we're both really excited to go see this movie ), I don't find many things scary, but the 1990 miniseries was always just sorta.... funny to me? I absolutely lose it when Pennywise just picks up Stan and runs in the sewers or Ben stops making out with Bev to look down and see those huge yellow pants. Like, I love clowns, I'm more invested in Pennywise as this weird ugly monster clown character than most of the horror aspects. They're just bonuses. I don't think they're not scary in that they're BAD and had I been less exposed to horror when I first saw it I'm sure I'd have at least been unsettled, but I've just. Never had anything but love for Pennywise as a villain.
Yeah I've seen that all over! The actor for Pennywise in this one actually JUST turned 28, I was disappointed when I heard because it's like when they killed Penny in the 1990 miniseries he was just immediately born again

So, forgot to reply after I saw "IT".
Scariest movie I ever saw so far. Almost pissed myself twice. Starting to think my theory was true. Came to Earth, too weak to properly shape-shift so he devoured and took the form of a clown named Pennywise, and uses the appearance of a clown to lore in kids.
Kind of like Nergal Jr. from "Billy and Mandy". Has a true form but the first victim he consumed became his natural appearance.
You see "IT" yet?

YEAH! It was sooooo good, Bill Skarsgard did such an outstanding job! So cute, so creepy, so awkward and uncomfortable. Loved that goblin shark mouth, the painted lady made me wanna die, all the kid actors are so talented. Can't wait for the extra 20 minutes in the director's cut! Also so impressed by the liberties he takes, like letting his lazy eye show through, letting the drool the fake teeth cause run from his mouth, learning contortion, etc. He's such a great actor, I hope to see more character roles from him sometime.
I actually saw that there was an old script with this scene where It, before Pennywise as a form had existed yet and as Bill described as actually looking quite a bit like himself, set in the 1600s, he's telling a woman to give him her baby or he'll eat her whole family, and at the end she places her baby on the well. This part was apparently filmed ( perhaps we'll see it as a deleted scene on the DVD or in the next film! ) but ultimately cut, though after the scene in the well house before Bev is taken, I think it's Ben sitting in the library, sees a painting of a woman holding a baby at the well from that time period ( this remaining in the film is what leads me to believe the concept wasn't dropped in its entirety ). So not only do I think you really do have an idea going, I'm thinking we may even possibly get to see how It comes to take the form of Pennywise!
But yeah all in all, one of the best horror films I've seen ( has so much more to it than just being a Scary Movie ), and I'm super excited to see all the bonus content, the next film, and hopefully even more films after that!

Highest grossing R-Rated film so far. And for good reasons. Perfect blend of 70% horror, 20% Drama and 10% comedy.
Really think they should've used the ending song "TV Set" by SPOON from the "Poltergeist" reboot for the ending. Like, they do a closing in on the hole PW fell into and eight before the lyrics start with see his eyes glow in the darkness.
I really hope they're working on Part 2 as we speak. Because I really want to see the fast-forward when they're adults part NOW.
