I believe I spent 10 minutes staring at this gift from heaven to find a way to describe my joy and wonderment this drawing is creating. This is wonderful, your mother is incredibly talented at handling and mixing the colors, I count on you you to transmit her this message. You captured the atmosphere so well. Warm, sweet, inspiring and relaxing. The positions and expressions are awesome. Trust me to find a way to frame this wonderful work on my room anytime I'm capable to do so. Adding the some celtic or folkore songs behind the drawing and you find yourself with a gorgeous machine of inspiration.

amazing enough this was colored only with usual color pencils like any pupil would use in school, only the fogs rising in the valley in the background are done with acrylic white as far as i can see

As for your question: No, she didn´t use an eraser. The whilte highlights in the background parts, aside from the fog which is done with acrylic, they are done with a special kind of white color pencil, called color giant that gives the color underneath a 3d texture

With this quality of artwork and the sheer level of beauty and detail of the landscape and of Eternal and Kibaura this would have to be the cover illustration for an epic western style fantasy novel or a frame from a high quality animated movie. There are so many possibilities and stories that you can imagine from looking at this and it's one of those pictures you find yourself looking at for a very long time and just letting your mind wander. Seeing your mothers work again with her technique and beautiful colouring in the background and I imagine it must be a great joy for her to pass on her talent and work with you with your line art and produce something epic and beautiful like this. When you've produced a wonderful piece of art together I hope it brings you both great happiness.

My mother is a masters with colors but still has some problems with composition and execution of drawings, this is what my speciality is, but on the other hand I am not that much skilled with colors.
So we team up every so often, I do the sketching and sometimes the inking, and my mother does the coloring
