//UPDATE September 15, 2017//
This entry won the contest! :) Thank you so much Mike! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That’s so cool! And you’re saying that your whole city is powered like this? Powered by lightning?
It’s a little more complicated than that, but yes.
Does this mean your city is all lit by these things at night? I bet it’s really pretty.
Oh, it’s beautiful. I’ll make sure to take you there someday.
You promise?
Absolutely.
Thanks! Now you got me wondering what you else you can charge up with lightning…maybe you can try it on my sword!
Heh, I like the way you think Marisa.
My contest entry for the 10 years of Ike contest by
DragonQuestHero of his character Marisa with an alternate universe version of Amber! Here, Amber teaches Marisa about the practical applications of lightning magic. Her hometown sits atop a mountain that is constantly surrounded by thunderstorms. And her people learned to harness the lightning to power their city and their magic. They revered the ancient Valkyries, the bringers of light and peace. So when Amber learned that a new Valkyrie had appeared in these dark times, she set off to find the warrior of light and assist in any way she could.
After meeting, she shows the young Valkyrie some of the technology that her people have developed. In a makeshift lab with heavy curtains to block out the light, Amber shoots a bolt of static into a crystal and lights up the room, and Marisa's eyes. The discharge even powers up multiple other devices in the room.
It was really fun changing Amber so she’d fit into Marisa’s more fantasy style world. To reference Amber’s Sci Fi roots, I chose to make her a mage with a focus on lightning magic. I’ve very pleased with how her design turned out. But because you can’t see the whole outfit here, I plan on doing a full body shot later.
