One of the Union Irish brigades lost the honor of their heritage in the heat of battle. Being a proud Irish boy, I could not let my countrymen suffer that fate. Riding back under view of the enemies of freedom, dodging fire, losing my brave steed,losing my pistol even my blouse I manage to find and retrieve the flag of emerald and gold. As the sun set I walk along, tired, exhausted even, but satisfied that Irish honor is preserved. So back to camp to return the shot worn banner to its rightful place, into the hands of a brigade of the far flung sons of Erin.

As a long removed son of Erin it brought a tear to my eye to see this piece. An opus to my Irish heritage, a people that may have frequently lost the fights they were in, but never withered in heart and never stopped fighting.
