(I’m really too late for this, but may I propose my own little origin story?)
Elysia lives a comfortable life as a general repairwoman for a local electronics shop. She’s actually the person that reigns in a lot of the store’s traffic; she’s one of the city’s best. She’s been tinkering and learning about machinery ins and outs since childhood, and that knowhow has allowed her to do repair jobs others would believe impossible. All the while, she finds the whole occupation satisfying, spending spare time on a vast library of video games of all sorts.
Then, one day, things would get strange. A blank, jet-black box came in through the mail-delivery service, with an address that (to no one’s realization) didn’t actually exist. The box held a chunky, oddly-proportioned laptop with gold paint, five hundred-dollar bills, and a single note. Said note was very brief, but very vague:
Memory stopped working. Repairs needed. Paying up front.
The rest of the staff were ready to dismiss this demand, but Elysia swiftly zipped up to get the job done. Unfortunately, she was given more than she bargained for; the inside of the machine was a mess. Whatever could be identified as the “memory” was buried under layer upon layer of wires, which seemed to go deeper than the machine itself would allow.
Elysia would forge on regardless, carefully navigating the maelstrom well into after-hours. She eventually reached the light at the end of the tunnel… in that she found a piece of hardware that was literally glowing bright gold. Seeing that it was bolted down, Elysia got a screwdriver to delicately remove the chip... but as they made contact, a massive electrical surge struck, going through Elysia’s rubber gloves and knocking her out through its sheer force.
Elysia would come to an hour later, roused by a distinct tingly feeling. Suddenly remembering the device, she quickly got up to see if it was ok… and rather surprisingly rocketed herself across the room, slamming right into the wall. She would try to regain her footing after recovering, only to discover that she’s moving awfully fast. After dashing into the walls over and over, she’d eventually learn to pace herself for a more comfortable speed… and saw that the mystery laptop had completely vanished.
She whipped out her phone to call the manager… only for it to fry in her hands. She then rushed to the wall-phone… and broke it as well. It was there that she realized that something was off about herself; just visible between her sleeve and glove was a clear line of yellow fur.
Now well aware of her speed, Elysia went to the restroom to look in the mirror. Her situation was even weirder than she thought; her muzzle fur was now white, her regular fur yellow, and her hair was a golden bolt that stood up on end. Making a connection between this and the golden chip, Elysia concludes that the shock she got somehow made her this way.
And she looked awesome.
Now ecstatic and gladly forgetting the machine, Elyisa rushed out the store and into the night, zipping across the empty roads with breakneck speed. The sheer thrill of this gave her life in abundance, and gave her a childlike glee... and then her speed suddenly dropped. Snapped back to reality by this slowdown, Elysia found that she had reverted back to normal… and had shredded most of her clothes in her sprinting.
Regardless, the following weekend, Elysia’s excitement still stood strong. Within the relative secrecy of her apartment, she’d figure out the full extent of her powers. Her first and most important discovery was how to recharge; by drawing energy from nearby sources, Elysia could change back into her super-powered form, and gain as much charge as she could possibly need… and then begin to swell up like a balloon if overcharging. Eventually learning the rest of her strengths and weaknesses, Elysia proudly vowed to use her newfound strength for good, going by the identity of Plasmina to begin a journey to greatness.
(That little mystery laptop is meant to be Plasmina’s version of the Elasta Bracelet; an object of enigmatic origins that bestows its powers on the first one who touches it. Where did it come from? Who knows. I’m lazy.)
