This is from a road leading up to Logan's Pass, the highest point in a road that bisects the park called Road to the Sun, or something along those lines, I can't believe I don't remember the name for sure. Anyway, we couldn't go through the entire fifty-five mile road because the pass was still iced in... in June. A ranger said last year, it didn't unfreeze until July 4th.
Anyway, according to the many signs, rangers, and audiotours, these valleys used to be V shaped, but then big, fat-ass glaciers came through and had to widen the valleys into these huge U shaped ones. Think about it. A wall of ice thousands of feet thick, tearing out rocks, slabs, and piles of shit to completely alter the shape of the valleys. Kind of awe inspiring, if you think about it.
