After the events that happened in this image, Vanessa and her super hero friends brought Kelsi Wong to the hospital. Vanessa, distraught over almost murdering her friend (and crush), spent her time visiting the hospital very day and avoiding her friends. At least until she runs into one of them.
The friend here is their resident tree hero, Ugat. They have a heart to heart, even though they're both terrible at it, and they discuss the future of the Wild Cards. As well as expressing his own guilt over Kelsi's condition. Vanessa is still bitter about it though, and thinks he's lying about his guilt.
