"Mages and magic-sensitive humans have long tried to tap into the ancient sources of draconic magic. They are typically ill-prepared for the naturalistic, raw, and feral nature of that particular wellspring. After all, dragons as as much magic as they are biology--at least to hear the elder drakes talk of it. So what happens when a human attempts to command these powers? More often than not, they undergo a startling metamorphosis, to say nothing of being blacklisted by all drakes that still hold to the old bloodlines. This unpredictable process can result in a draconic metamorph, a hybrid, or in rare circumstances the creation of an entirely new dragon. Its permanency is also highly temperamental, as a transformed mage once learned to her peril when she resumed her human form in the middle of an elder drake conclave."

Then you'll probably ruin your life - it's hard to be employed or find a significant other if you're a fire-breathing dragon, simple tasks like cooking, playing poker or taking a wee will become a chore (if not nightmare) due to everyday items being highly customized for humans to use, and even if you somehow get used to your position, you'll probably get kidnapped by some shady SCP dudes or something.
