I spotted the finish markings on the classic plane as soon as I looked at your page. The bottom most plane looks a lot like the P-47

It does look similar to the P47, but lacks the curves of it and the more mid-ish mounted wings, i know impossible to explain badhair:

yeah your right the nose isnt as rounded and the wings are slightly lower, the vertical stab is much rounder then the P-47, and the prop shaft on the P-47 is slightly higher then center. The P-47 also has an almost elliptical shaped wing where as this one has a squared off tip.
The main feature that made me think P-47 though were the radial engine, the cowl flaps, and the bubble canopy. At a glance, it is similar.

The wings are more based of a P51. =P
but you could consider it at a glance a predecessor or a simplified variant =)
