Subject Snowleopard
Materia Artistica : Microns, watercolours, coloured pencils
References: a few photos of Snow leopards and lots of details taken from or inspired by Buddhas and tibetian jewelry and objects. the demons and skulls traditional on such things were made more feline
Notes: in case you are wondering that is not a raisin or prune over his third eye but a Tektite. Meteors and Tektites are holy in Tibet and sometimes even covered in gold and sealed in glass reliquary like pendants.

Very nice. I see he is wearign beeds very similar to the ones I bought you hehe. The intracacies of all the jewlery and the grandness of the subject is waht this piece is about. The problems that I run into though is the top part of the border. The featherlike extensions that are a part of the border look like they ay be a biece of the crown or vice versa and it throws off the perspective. I don't have a suggestion for an easy fix for that one...It is just the way it came out. Other than that there are just soem areas on the face that kind of do not flow completely with the perspective iether. It really is a wonderful piece though and I certainly do enjoy looking upon it.
Again with the scans are not perfect and you should know how that goes. the border in case you did not get to see it in the art show was darker than the crown. being that it's base colour was yellow ocher and the crown was bright gold. in real life it does not blend at all. indeed i shaded them to look like different metals.
as far as the face. i practically traced the anatomy from photos. just to make it more real since this was such a portrait. i think youy will find that if you look at real anatomy of some things (like how human arms attach at some poses) they look all wrong but that is the way. and some of the big cats have weirdly shaped faces that do not fall into the norm for big cats and other felines. snow leopards are like that. at least the images i have are.

If yo uare goign for a really representational look I suppose that is all great but to create a good piece and an interestign illusion of depth sometimes you have to play with reality a bit.
In terms of the metals. Yes I did notice the difference in person. You need a better scanner man :p...
