When your head can easily come off, you need something special to keep it on. Hence the duct tape (and the Red Green reference).
I came up with Teri the giraffe so I could have someone who wasn't modular or very familiar with Lilith the Headless Goth Vixen in order for this joke to work. Gynette would obviously know all about trying to keep her head on at the pool, so the joke wouldn't work with her.
Also, I see that most giraffe anthros seem to have very short human-length necks. I don't get that. Why take away a giraffe's most famous feature? Of course, the other end of the spectrum is the magical giraffe neck of impossible length and flexibility. Teri here is presented realistically... at least as realistic as an anthro giraffe comic character in a bikini can be.
