Geji + Eva [Project Journal]
So, just a quick update about game stuff.
So with my brainstorming I've decided that Geji is finished as he is, with just some animation clean up, a few small changes and one more move as some sort of "super" type move. His moveset is smaller than I originally expected, but it feels on-point where it is.
That being said, I'm going to do this smaller movesets with all of my characters, for a few reasons. It gives me an excuse to make my work on this a little easier, can make more of my characters with realistic goals in mind. But with this, I planned that I wanted to make my game with a tag system in mind, so teams of characters can cover the places where the individuals lack. Since there's no ideal way to make custom teams in MUGEN, I'll be making these as fixed team units.
For Geji, this will be Eva, Jeibu's mother, since Geji's saga takes place long before Jeibu's. I'll be using this pair as an experimental unit since I'm still workin on MUGEN. This will change when I move on, but for future character, I might make larger teams, that are varied by palette choice or some other method. For now, these two will help me with the concept. I already know how I'll handle makin these two in MUGEN.
As for how this pair dynamic will work, Geji will be the faster, more offensive one while Eva will be a bit slower, deal fewer hits, but have better defensive options. But the real thing I wanna work on with these two is making them actually work together, rather than just making them function on tagging. So the combo system will work best with transitions between the two.
I MIGHT make a solo version of Geji with some sort of quick AI just to put something out in the meantime. I'll just need to wait until I have the time to clean up his assets and I suppose a couple of intro/outro animations and that super move. I'm not sure if I will though.
This work is very much a backburner project since I gotta focus more on work (and looking for a new job) and commissions. I've dabbled with the idea of trying to figure out if this is a thing worth trying to raise support for, like tips or something. Was also thinking of just doing some "fan art" sort of characters for folks that might want something more familiar than just my personal critters. Just an idea so I can put more time towards this in the future, but it's a passion-project either way, so I'll work when I can.
