Found this unpleasant creature wandering around my aunt and uncle's pool. For those who don't know, this is the velvet ant AKA the cow killer. On the insect sting pain index, it comes in about third place after the bullet ant and the tarantula hawk. I got stung in the foot by one of these when I lived in Florida...mighty unpleasant. This one was relocated elsewhere by way of ballistic trajectory.

Further info: These are flightless wasps, not true ants. They're also fairly large. That's an olive jar it's sitting in.
