This was a design I worked up for an old coworker who was looking for an album cover for his band, Eden.

I was very proud of this image, and was already getting ready to colour it as best as I could, but he rejected it off-hand.
It was my first outright rejection and I was pretty upset by it. The feeling was only made worse when he started outlineing what he wanted me to do:

Two small figures holding hands in front of a tree in the center of a futuristic plaza. The insert would then fold out into a poster, showing a huge cityscape surrounding the two figures and the tree. The whole thing way out of my normal fair and quite frankly, out of my skill level as well.

I ended up doing quite a few concept sketches for him, none of which he accepted, but the whole experience was a great entrance into commission/corporate work.

I still enjoy this image. It's one of the ones I've thought of sending to a really good digital colourist to get fleshed out all the way.
