The official backstory for my fursona Yip the Mechanical Fox! If you don't want to download it, you can read it here.
In the year 35XX, a young, shy scientist who spent his scientific career developing, coding, and prototyping machines from his home named Dr. Nathan Codix finally finished one of his most ambitious personal projects: a robotic companion that could think on its own. He modeled it after an anthro fox, his favorite species of non-human being. It was equipped with a levitation device in case it could not walk with him somewhere, a teleportation device in case it got lost, a homing beacon in case the teleportation device wasn't working or was out of charge or range, and a plasma blade that could come out of its right arm in case it needed to protect it's master. Despite its rather powerful teleportation device, it could only teleport within 440 yards away at a maximum of four times before it needed to recharge its teleportation matrix. It could enter a 'sleep mode' to charge itself. The robot stands at roughly 3 feet tall, mostly due to lack of materials, and a slight desire for the companion to be pet-like. He named the robot "Yip" because he thought the short name would fit his short height, and because that's a sound a non-anthro fox can make. Now, Yip was very different from the other robots Dr. Codix had made earlier, because he had what the Doctor called an artificial soul, a small device within Yip that allowed him to feel emotions and be able to respond to physical objects, and feel pain. He activated the robot, and from that day on, they became great friends. Yip would help him work around the lab, give him support, ideas, and care for him, but Dr. Codix noticed something.... Yip was getting lonely. By the time Yip was four years old, he had stopped being so happy and carefree as he used to be, and moped around in his free time. Dr. Codix felt sorry for him, and thought he couldn't do anything to help Yip, but then he got an idea. He began working on a secret project, hidden from Yip's knowledge as to not spoil the surprise. A year passed, and as Yip was about to go back to his room, Dr. Codix called for him, so he ran to him, slightly questioning what he was being called for. When he came to Dr. Codix, he saw something covered by a white sheet standing next to him, he then removed the sheet and introduced Yip to his latest project: Eve the Mechanical Fox, a companion for Yip. She looked very similar to yip, but she was a bit different. She was wearing a purple sweater, her lights were pink instead of cyan, her fur had more detail than his, and the most different thing about her was that she had short brown hair. Yip questioned these choices in his mind, but forgot about them when Eve went up to Yip and hugged him. Dr. Codix then explained that Eve was similar to Yip in how they were programmed as well, but that she was shy to most people except him, and that she was programmed to love him. He also explained that they could communicate with each other with their minds, no matter how far apart they were. Yip wanted to question those choices, but didn't, as he had then realized he wouldn't be as lonely anymore. From then on, both Yip and Eve would help Dr. Codix around the lab, they were near inseparable. Things stayed like this until Yip was 16 years old, when he realized that all his life he had stayed in the same lab with the same two people. He wanted to see the world, so he asked Dr. Codix if he could. Codix, not liking to leave his home, told him no. Yip wouldn't have this. Later that night, Yip told Eve that he wanted to leave, and Eve understood him. They agreed that if Yip was ever damaged or needed to come home for any reason, that Yip would activate his distress beacon and Eve would take the spare hovercycle and rescue him. With that, Yip snuck out his bedroom window, took a hovercycle, and went to explore the world.
