It hurts
All energy is borrowed, and some day we have to give it back
But this is agony
This particular energy was already faded
I wanted to see it glow again
It was just too weak, I didn't do enough to keep it burning

I got a call today, my younger brother called me, telling me to come home, it was urgent; our cat wasn't breathing.
Our cat had fallen into cardiac arrest shortly after not being able to breathe. My mother tried to resuscitate her, but our cat was just too weak.

As soon as I got in the front door, her heart completely stopped.
I watched her body fade as I comforted her through her last moments, and my heart shattered in to pieces.
