I wonder if the shape of the antenna was pleasing.

These creatures never cease to amaze me. I have the luck of living with a stream at the bottom of the lane, and a walk down there will reveal them by the dozens at the right time of the year. - I can never just walk by, I have to stop and soak in the beauty of these wonderful dragonflies.

I do the same thing. I've lived a lot of places with creeks and ponds. They mesmerize me.
A few years ago in Ohio, a friend and I were outside and not near any water. Yet the air was buzzing with them. So many there could have been 1 for every 2 square feet of space as far as you could see. It was a swarm. Then suddenly a thunderstorm came up and when it was done, they had all vanished.

If you think about the big black ball at the end of the antenna--an the the long stem of the antenna coupled with the bright shiney red of the car, I had to wonder if the dragonfly up there was thinking he'd found himself the sexiest dragonfly gal in the world.
If you bumped him, he'd fly away. In a minute or two he was back in that same spot. Could this be a Pepe la Pew kind of thing? *grins*

Thats one of the best pictures of one ive ever seen! we have tons of them around my place, they come in a bewildering aray of colors from blue to that coppery red beuty there. there voracious hunters and pic the highest clear spot they can find where they have a clear view all around. you can attract them by just getting a fishing pole and sticking it up over the reeds and soon enough one will find it and use it as a hunting spot
