He’s doing a brand new dance: Quick Tempo
Mobility is the name of the game. Due to his need to move while hearing music, a few of his special moves focus on either moving Tempo around the screen, evading attacks, or a combination of both making him a skilled anti-zoner, especially when he’s able both evade and close distance at the same time. For example, his move ‘Spin Right Round’ allows him to evade past attacks while twirling forward. This allows him not only to move past projectiles, but can also be used to cross-up opponents. Additionally, his crouch is a bit lower than other characters, so some projectiles may just go right over his head.
In addition to his mobility, Quick Tempo is able to use an extendable staff to increase his reach on certain sweeps and useful for starting combos after using ‘Spin Right Round’ for cross-up combos and sweeps.
Tempo’s Trait is Get Down; by upping the beats per minute of the music he’s listening to and speeding up the twirling of his staff around him, Tempo is able to create an air pocket of high air pressure that he can use to re-direct projectiles back at the opponents. Additionally, at a melee range, it acts as an overhead that will bounce the opponent, opening them up for combos. However, the move can only be used twice before needing to be refilled.
